Advanced Placement
St. Francis College Dual enrollment and AP courses provide students with the opportunity for advanced study and to earn college credit. Dual Enrollment courses earn students 3-5 college credits each and students leave McCown with a St. Francis College transcript. Each AP course culminates in an AP exam during the first two weeks of May. More than 3,600 colleges and universities worldwide, including over 90 percent of four-year institutions in the United States, award college credit and/or permission to take upper-level courses to students who earn a qualifying score on the AP exam.
Sitting for the actual exam is not a requirement. Because AP courses are significantly more challenging than high school level courses, grades obtained in AP courses are weighted when determining a student's GPA. More information about the Advanced Placement program is available from the College Board's website. Teachers and course syllabi have been approved by the College Board.
